Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – May 14, 2024 – A Jonesboro man was released from jail Tuesday after being charged with trying to strangle his girlfriend.

William Gossett, 51, was arrested Saturday after Jonesboro police were called to a residence where the victim said Gossett had choked her to the point where she almost passed out.

Gossett told officers that he had gotten into a verbal altercation with the victim but left after that.

The victim told officers a different story. She said Gossett struck her, causing her to fall to the ground, and then began strangling her until she almost passed out.

On Monday, May 13, District Judge Tommy Fowler found probable cause to charge Gossett with assault on a household or family member and set his bond at $35,000.

His next court date is June 28 in Craighead County Circuit Court.
