WHAT: As part of National Donate Life Month in April, St. Bernards Medical Center, in partnership with Mid-America Transplant, will host an organ and tissue donor memorial ceremony on Wednesday, April 17th. The event honors donor heroes, celebrates the lives they saved and recognizes the generosity of donor families. The event takes place at 1 p.m. in the hospital’s Prayer Garden, just outside the Chapel.
WHEN: Wednesday, April 17th from 1:00 – 1:30 p.m.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS: Enter through the hospital’s main entrance off Washington Avenue, take the elevator to the Ground level and proceed to the Chapel, located on the right.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
- In 2023 alone, more than 46,000 organ transplants from 23,000 donors brought new life to patients and their families in 2023 alone.
- In 2022, nearly 80,000 corneal transplants helped restore sight.
- Currently, more than 100,000 people await organ transplants.
- One organ, eye and tissue donor can save up to eight lives, restore sight to two people and heal more than 75 persons.
- To date, more than 170 million people are registered organ, eye and tissue donors.
