Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Jan. 21, 2025 – St. Bernards will soon be hosting its third annual Heart Day, allowing citizens to get free information and screenings on heart health.
The event takes place Feb. 13 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the St. Bernards Auditorium, located at 505 E. Washington Ave. It is free and open to the public and focused on heart care and heart issues. Registration is not required.
St. Bernards Healthcare Communications Director Mitchell Nail said Heart Day takes place in February to coincide with American Heart Month.
“This is the third annual Heart Day, growing from years of us hosting a Healthy Heart Luncheon,” Nail said. “With Heart Day, we wanted to expand what we offered at the Luncheon. We included free screenings, expanded access to physicians, educational opportunities, vendors and giveaways, turning Heart Day into a free, community-wide gathering.”
This event will feature:
- Free health screenings, including heart screenings
- “Ask the Expert” with heart & vascular physicians and clinicians available from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Registration for door prizes (if you wear red, you get an extra entry)
- Grab and go heart-healthy breakfast or lunch
- Basic CPR and AED training
- Information on heart failure, electrophysiology, peripheral vascular disease and more
In addition to heart screenings, St. Bernards will also host its regular, free monthly health screenings, which will include blood pressure checks; height, weight and BMI measurements; and lab work – anemia, glucose, hemoglobin A1C (3-month average blood sugar) and a lipid panel (total cholesterol, HDL, LDL and triglycerides). Colon cancer screenings are also available.
For the most accurate results, fast at least 12 hours prior to bloodwork, although drinking water is OK.
