Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Feb. 6, 2025 – Jonesboro police responded this week to a shots-fired call on Belt Street.
As they arrived at the scene, a white Cadillac Escalade was leaving the area at a high rate of speed. Officers initiated a traffic stop and the driver reportedly threw a gun out of his window and continued to flee. Officers recovered an AR-15-style pistol.
The vehicle pulled onto State Street where the driver, 33-year-old Leon Selvy, was arrested. Also in the vehicle was his 10-year-old son.
Video footage obtained later showed the Escalade chasing after a white pickup truck. In the video, gunshots are heard as a gun is being fired from the driver’s side of the vehicle. Selvy then stops in front of a residence and is seen hanging out of the driver-side window pointing a handgun and yelling towards the white truck.
Officers also located a vehicle on Allis that had been struck by what appeared to be a bullet. The Escalade also had three gunshots in the hood.
Selvy was charged with terroristic acts, endangering the welfare of a minor, fleeing and driving with a suspended license.
His next court date is March 20, and his bond was set at $75,000 cash/surety. According to online jail records, Selvy bonded out Feb. 5 at 4:57 p.m.
