Single family neighborhood expanding in east Jonesboro

Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Aug 14, 2024 – A preliminary subdivision approval request for a new single-family housing development on 29.4 acres located at the intersection of Pacific Road and Dr. MLK Jr. Drive went before the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission last month.

The proposal outlines the creation of 76 single-family residential lots within an R-1, medium density zoning district. This zoning designation supports a well-planned residential community with moderate density, green space, and common spaces. The area will complete the 3rd phase of the Pacific Grove neighborhood already under construction directly to the west.

The subdivision will feature several new streets including Mariposa Grove Drive, Hemlock Grove Drive, Alder Grove Drive, Firwood Cove, Douglas Cove, and Juniper Grove Drive. The proposal also includes the requirement for sidewalks to ensure pedestrian safety and improve walkability within the subdivision.

Mark Morris, the applicant and agent, along with H&S Hime Professional Surveying, the appointed surveyor, is overseeing the project’s development.

The request passed with 5 aye votes and 4 absentees, subject to staff verifying lot dimensions.
