Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — April 2, 2025 — A Kennett man is being held on a $150,000 cash/surety bond after police said he failed to notify them about changes to his current address in Jonesboro.

According to an affidavit, on April 26, 2024, Arkansas Parole and Probation agent Heather Godair and Jonesboro police officers went to an apartment in the 3500 block of Race Street to conduct a sex offender compliance check on 50-year-old Michael Jay Robinson. However, the tenant told officers that Robinson was not currently living there.

Robinson was classified as a level two sex offender in January 2017 by the Sex Offender Community Notification Assessment, police said. They noted Robinson’s last activity was in January 2023 when he gave the Race Street address and did not make any attempts since then to provide any other address.

“Arkansas state law requires the offender to report any changes in residence, mailing address, temporary domicile, employment, volunteer, email, social network information, all information pertaining to any vehicle the offender owns or has access to in-person to the local law enforcement agency having jurisdiction at the time of the chance,” the affidavit said.

State law also says any changes to the offender’s address must be reported within five days after they move to the new address.

On April 2, Craighead County Judge David Boling found probable cause to charge Robinson with failure to register – failure to comply with reporting requirements. He could face up to three to 10 years in prison and a fine up to $10,000.

Robinson’s next court appearance is scheduled for May 22.
