Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — June 27, 2025 — Services located within the Justice Complex will be temporarily relocated due to building repairs.

According to a news release from the City of Jonesboro, a routine annual inspection of the building, located at 410 W. Washington Ave., identified the need to reinforce a roof rafter.

“The repair is similar to previous reinforcement processes and expected to take 3 to 5 weeks, but an exact timeframe has yet to be determined,” the news release said. “Due to the likelihood of power and utility disruptions as a part of that process there will be a temporary relocation of services.”

The “previous reinforcement processes” may be referring to extensive work done in 2006 after the justice complex building was deemed “unsafe.” District Court and other judicial proceedings were moved to the former Huntington Methodist Church building in February, 2006. Other police offices were moved to the old City Hall building on Washington.

Construction was done to the justice complex building to make it safe, including the addition of eight beams added to the interior of the building. Other work was done out of sight supporting the roof. District court and the police department returned to the justice complex building in April 2006.

Then-Mayor Doug Forman appointed a committee to find a new location to house the Jonesboro Police Department and the court system. Most of the police department operations eventually moved to its present facility in the former U.S. Army Reserve building on Caraway Road in fall, 2014 during the Mayor Harold Perrin administration. The District Court and certain other offices remain in the Justice Complex building.

District Court will be temporarily held in the Craighead County Courthouse Annex, located at 511 Union Street. Jonesboro Police Department services located in the Justice Complex can still be reached at the following:

The news release added that signage with this information will be posted on the Justice Complex Building.
