Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – August 11, 2024 – They brought Mark Gibson home today. The 56-year-old employee of Emerson Ambulance Service was killed Friday when the ambulance his wife, Cheri, was driving was hit head-on by another vehicle. The driver of that other vehicle, Janet Chapman, 67, of Blytheville, was also killed. Cheri and the patient passenger in the ambulance, Phyllis Moore, 72 of Manila, were injured. The extent of their injuries is unknown.
Gibson was taken by helicopter to Regional One Medical Center in Memphis where he died. Sunday the Northeast District of ASFFA (Arkansas State Firefighters Association) organized a “Sea of Red” escort to bring his body back to Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
Gibson was retired from the West Memphis Fire Department where he served for 28 years. Today’s procession included fire, police, ambulance, and rescue units from all over the Mid-South showing their support for their “brother.”
