Mrs. Ruby Voyles Langford of Wynne departed this life on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, at the age of 101.
She was born November 2, 1922, in Manila, the daughter of Harvey J. Altman and Lilly Mae Buchanan Altman.
After high school, Ruby worked many years in the cotton fields and also ran the Westside Grocery Store in Wynne for many years. She later began working at Sanyo Manufacturing Company in Wynne and worked her way up to group leader and inspector. She worked there until retirement. She married Jasper Dalton Voyles in 1940 and they were married for 47 years before his death in 1987. She loved gardening and canning and always enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of the Fitzgerald Baptist Church in Wynne. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, 11 siblings and 1 grandson.
She is survived by two sons, Junior Voyles and his wife Barbara of Wynne, Charles Voyles and his wife Treva of Jacksonville, AR, one daughter, JoAnne Franklin of Wynne, one sister, Jenny V. Hill of Iuka, MS, one brother, Carl Gene Altman of Iuka, MS, 10 grandchildren and a multitude of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Gregg-Weston Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisburg, with Mr. Fred Strausser officiating. Interment will follow in Harris Chapel Cemetery near Wynne. Friends may visit at the funeral home Sunday, 1:00-2:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Brock Franklin, Chris Voyles, Kyle Haynes, Richard Flahrity, Charlie Wood, and John Dalton Wheeler.
