Little Rock, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – The ASU System Board of Trustees appointed Dr. Robin Myers as its interim president during its December meeting.
Myers’ appointment is effective today (Friday, Dec. 12). There was no action regarding a future search.
He was previously named the interim president after Chuck Welch, who served as ASU System president for 13 years, resigned to become president and chief executive officer of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities.
Myers served as chancellor of ASU Mountain Home, retiring from that position in July 2023. According to an ASU System news release, he is a consultant on the new Career Readiness Education & Skills Training (CREST) Center in Jonesboro, which is a collaboration among A-State, ASU-Newport and Arkansas Northeastern College.

This comes after the system’s current board president, Dr. Brendan Kelly, announced Wednesday he would be resigning from the position to become president of Eastern Michigan University.
According to the motion made during the meeting, the termination of Kelly’s duties will be Dec. 31, 2025; however, his compensation and benefits will be extended through Feb. 13.
Kelly’s primary duties following the adjournment of the board’s meeting will now be assisting with transitioning his duties to Myers.
