Richard “Pop” Michael Rober, 88, of Maynard, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Regional One Medical Center in Memphis.
Richard was born on April 26, 1936, to Chester and Catherine Rober in Quincy, MA. Richard joined the Air Force and served in Okinawa, Germany, South Korea, and Japan. After leaving the military he earned his Masters in Instrumentation and Technology Engineering where he worked constructing nuclear power plants and on the SR-71 Blackbird project.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Catherine Rober; wife, Bobbie Jean Howard Rober; sons, Ricky Rober, Ken Rober and Mike Starnes; grandson, Matt Cowles along with nine siblings.
He is survived by his children, Richard Rober, Kenneth Rober and Brenda Howard. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Cremation has been chosen as the method of final disposition. There will be a private service held at a later date.
Arrangements are under direction of McNabb Funeral Home.
