Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – May 17, 2025 – Residents of Jonesboro will have an opportunity to make comments regarding a revenue bond proposal prior to Tuesday’s Jonesboro City Council meeting.
The public hearing is scheduled for 5:30 Tuesday, May 20 in the City Council Chambers at the Jonesboro Municipal Building.
Jonesboro Mayor Harold Copenhaver reviewed his revenue bond plan at a City Council Finance and Administration Committee meeting earlier this month. Copenhaver is proposing three projects to be funded with 16.0-16.5 million dollars in revenue from the sale of revenue bonds. He plans to commit revenue from city franchise fees to pay for the bonds.
The regular City Council meeting will be held following the revenue bond public hearing.
Among the items on the Council’s agenda include the first reading of a proposed ordinance that would designate an alternative route for large trucks. The proposed ordinance states that “a commercial truck route shall be established to route non-local large commercial truck traffic away from downtown Jonesboro. Commercial trucks will only be permitted on Main, Church and Union Streets between Highland Drive and Johnson Avenue for local deliveries.”
