Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Sept. 11, 2024 – A man charged with aggravated robbery and 1st degree terroristic threatening went before Judge Barbara Halsey Wednesday.
The man, Benjamin Valeary, was arrested Sept. 2 after becoming a person of interest in a series of connected robberies. The first robbery was reported Sept. 1, where Valeary reportedly threatened the victim with a handgun and stole $5,750 worth of property.
Officers responded to a second robbery Sept. 2, where Valeary was identified and arrested.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Valeary “admitted to being in the victim’s apartment on Sept. 1 high on meth” in a Mirandized interview. Valeary reportedly said he was looking for abandoned items and entered multiple apartments for this purpose.
Listed charges on the affidavit are aggravated robbery, 1st degree terroristic threatening, possession of a firearm by certain persons, and theft greater than $5,000 but less than $25,000.
Valeary was given a bond of $100,000 c/s and a court date of Oct. 28 at 8:30 a.m.
