Rennell Woods, 50, a native and resident of Jonesboro, AR died Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, AR surrounded by family and friends.

Rennell Woods was the youngest child born to the late Clidie Mae Woods of Jonesboro, AR. Rennell graduated from Arkansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education, with an emphasis in Sports Management and a Minor in Business Administration in 1997. Notably, Rennell Woods became only the 2nd Black alderman to serve on the Jonesboro City Council in 150 years, when he was elected in 2009. He was a well-known entrepreneur, community leader, and an unwavering advocate for at-risk youth in the city of Jonesboro.

Rennell was an ordained Minister, and an active member of The Rock of Northeast Arkansas (NEA) Church in Jonesboro, AR. Rennell was happily married for 18 years to Dr. LaToshia P. (Scaife) Woods. Rennell and LaToshia have 3 sons: Camden Rennell Woods, Landon James Woods, and Kobe Madden Woods.

A Funeral Service in Mr. Woods’ honor will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at The Rock of NEA Church located at 4318 E. Johnson Avenue, Jonesboro, AR with the viewing from 10 am to 12 noon and the Funeral Service at 12 noon.
