Memphis, TN – (Contributed) – Sept. 12, 2025 – Entering its third season under head coach Sujay Lama, the Arkansas State women’s tennis team is set to kick off its fall slate this weekend at the Memphis Invite.
The hidden dual features A-State, Ball State, Memphis and Middle Tennessee. The Red Wolves will matchup with Ball State on Friday, Middle Tennessee on Saturday and close out the weekend against the host Memphis on Sunday.
“Our ladies have been working hard and looking forward to competing,” Lama said. “We’ll get a good feel for our level and the areas we need to work on. One of biggest objectives is to play freely but with conviction. Hidden dual format provides a team match feel which is be valuable for our underclassmen but especially for Meghna (Arun Kumar) who is our lone freshmen.”
In 2025, A-State had its best season since 2008 with 13 wins and the program’s first winning record since 2011. The Red Wolves broke home attendance records, earned five conference victories (most since 2000), and won a Sun Belt Conference Tournament match for the first time since 2015. In his first year, the program recorded its most wins since 2012 and most shutout victories since 2011.
The 2025-26 roster has five returning players – senior Sarah Millard, junior Anna Grigoreva, sophomore Carla Muro Castellvi, sophomore Hanmare McAslin and sophomore Lilly Cvangiger. Freshman Meghna Arun Kumar joined the roster for the fall and signee Helena Bueno is expected to join the roster ahead of the spring slate.
