Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – February 16, 2025 – Flooding rains moved out of Northeast Arkansas Saturday night but not before dumping several inches of rain.
3.93 inches of rain were reported Friday night through Saturday night at the Jonesboro airport. A weather observer reported 4.5 inches in Paragould. 4.42 inches was measured in Blytheville.
As the rain moved out, colder air was moving in. The Saturday night forecast included the chance for snow flurries overnight as temperatures were expected to drop into the lower 30s by Sunday morning.
The next weather impact could come from a winter storm forecast to move through the area late Tuesday and Tuesday night. Heavy snow and ice accumulations are possible. Early accumulation forecasts estimate 4-6 inches of snow could fall in Craighead County. There is a possibility that a period of sleet could precede the snowfall. If that happens the snow totals could be reduced.
Once the precipitation moves out late Tuesday night, temperatures are expected to drop to their lowest levels of the winter. Single digit lows are forecast for Wednesday through Friday with highs expected to remain in the 20s.
