Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — May 16, 2025 — A judge gave a Marion man a $100,000 cash/surety bond Friday after police said he choked a woman and ran into her with his vehicle after stealing multiple items from her.
Judge Tommy Fowler found probable cause to charge 23-year-old Jarius Markes Winston with robbery, aggravated assault, theft of $5,000 or less but greater than $1,000 from a vehicle, and third-degree domestic battery.
According to the affidavit, on May 5, Jonesboro police officers responded to an address on Lexee Drive in Jonesboro.
Upon arrival, the victim told police she had pulled into the driveway and when she opened the door, Winston began choking her and pushing her into the vehicle.
The victim said she began screaming, resulting in Winston hitting her to get her to stop. She added that Winston was strangling her “so hard” that she could no longer scream.
The affidavit said Winston then stole $35 in cash, the victim’s iPhone, and her MacBook computer, and he ran to his vehicle.
The victim said she went inside to call the police and tried to get Winston to stop so officers would have time to arrive, but Winston hit her with his car, causing her to fall to the ground, and he drove off. The affidavit noted that the victim had minor injuries as a result.
In addition to the $100,000 cash/surety bond, Fowler ordered Winston to have no contact with the victim.
Winston is scheduled to be back in court on June 27.
