Brookland, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — April 14, 2025 — A Jonesboro man is accused of threatening a victim with a firearm and choking them.

On April 11, Brookland Police officers were sent to a domestic incident in the area of Holman and School Street in Brookland. Dispatchers told officers the two involved were Jon Moore and a female victim. The victim was the caller.

Editor’s Note: To protect the alleged victim in this case, JRN has chosen not to divulge identifying information about them.

Dispatch lost contact with the caller and officers could not find the domestic, the probable cause affidavit said. They also checked the house, where they found a door to the home open. They found that a struggle appeared to have taken place, but no one was home.

Officers found a loaded .45 caliber magazine in the living room and issued a “be on the lookout” for the couple, but could not find them.

Later that day, the female victim called dispatch wanting to speak to an officer at the home. While speaking with the officer, the officer noticed the victim had red marks and bruising on her throat, consistent with strangulation. There were also red marks on the left side of her face.

According to the affidavit, the victim told the officer Moore grabbed her around the throat, threw her to the ground and hit and choked her. Moore then placed a firearm under her chin, the affidavit said, disengaged the safety and asked, “Are you ready to go?”

Moore then forced the victim into a vehicle and began driving, telling her they were going to his mother’s house to “avoid getting into trouble,” the affidavit said. The victim escaped the vehicle near a gas station when Moore slowed down, according to the affidavit.

On April 12, Moore came to the police department, during which he played an audio recording between himself and the victim he’d taken around 8 a.m. that day.

According to the affidavit, in the recording, Moore asked “very leading questions” such as “Why did you lie to the police,” followed by statements such as “I would never put my hands on you.” During the recording, the victim gave answers that seemed to be designed not to upset Moore and make it appear she was on his side, the affidavit said.

Moore was taken into custody and transported to the Craighead County Detention Center.

He’s charged with one count of aggravated assault on a family or household member, one count of first degree terroristic threatening, and one count of first degree kidnapping – false imprisonment.

Moore was given a $35,000 cash or surety bond and a no-contact order with the victim. His next court date is May 22.
