Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — April 7, 2025 — A Palestine, AR, man is facing multiple charges after police said he broke into an apartment in Jonesboro and assaulted two people Saturday night.
Officers responded to a reported residential burglary on Greensboro Road.
According to police, 35-year-old Bennie Murphy, who shares a child with the female victim, entered the apartment uninvited and attacked both her and her husband. The couple said they were upstairs when he burst in. The woman said he shoved her into a table, leaving her with bruises on her arms and legs. Her husband reported being punched several times in the face, but he had no visible injuries.
The woman’s son, who was downstairs during the incident, told officers that Murphy banged on the door until it opened, then went upstairs to confront the couple. Officers later located and arrested him, who said, “I didn’t break in, the door was open.”
He’s charged with aggravated residential burglary, third-degree domestic battery, and second-degree assault. Murphy’s bond was set at $150,000 cash/surety. A no-contact order was issued, and he is required to wear an ankle monitor. His next court appearance is scheduled for May 22.
