Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — May 9, 2025 — Police arrested a Memphis man after they said he and a woman stole thousands of dollars’ worth of eyeglasses from multiple Walmart stores in Jonesboro.
According to an affidavit, on Sept. 3, 2024, Jonesboro police officers responded to the Walmart Supermarket on Parker Road for a theft.
An employee told police they saw a man and woman stuffing multiple pairs of eyeglasses and sunglasses into the woman’s purse and leaving the store in a white GMC Acadia without paying. The affidavit stated the total amount stolen was $2,614.
Police then learned the duo went to the Walmart Supermarket on Highland Drive the same day, where a witness said they stole $4,432 in glasses. Between both thefts, $7,046 in items were stolen.
The affidavit said the suspects were later confirmed to be from Memphis, TN, after authorities compared their driver’s licenses and Facebook photos with surveillance photos taken by Walmart.
The man was arrested and booked into the Craighead County Detention Center on May 9. The affidavit noted that on May 11, 2024, he received a citation while driving a white GMC Acadia with fake tags.
Craighead County Judge David Boling found probable cause to charge the man with theft greater than $5,000 but less than $25,000 (from building). He was given a $7,046 cash-only bond and will have to wear a GPS ankle monitor upon release due to having no ties to Arkansas. Boling added that the man had a similar charge at a Walmart in Greene County.
His next court appearance is scheduled for June 27.
The woman is currently not listed in the Craighead County Detention Center or the Shelby County Jail rosters. Memphis is located in Shelby County.
