Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – Court documents state that a Jonesboro man assaulted his neighbor with a motorcycle helmet, trapped her in her home, and then passed out while looking for property he claimed his neighbor had taken.
On March 23, Jonesboro police officers were called to an apartment on West Nettleton Avenue for a recent assault. Officers made contact with the victim, who said her neighbor, 43-year-old Christopher Lee Bills, stopped her outside her apartment and accused her of taking his property.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the victim told Bills she had no clue what he was talking about. Bills began to punch her and hit her in the head with his motorcycle helmet, leaving a minor injury above her right eye. Bills then stole her purse and keys and went into his apartment.

After the victim returned to her apartment, Bills came back, demanding to be let in so he could look for his property inside her apartment. Out of fear, the victim agreed, but when she told Bills she was going to leave, he responded that nobody was leaving the apartment.
According to the victim, moments later Bills passed out while searching for his items. She took the opportunity to get out and call for the police. Officers were able to find Bills inside the victim’s apartment, and he was taken into custody.
Bills appeared before Circuit Judge Barbara Halsey, who found probable cause to charge Bills with robbery (Class B felony), third-degree battery/purpose of causing injury (Class A misdemeanor), and theft of $1,000 or less – all others (Class A misdemeanor). In addition, he was ordered to have no contact with the victim.
Bills is being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for May 20. If convicted on all charges, he faces up to 23 years in prison and fines up to $20,000.
