Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — July 8, 2025 — A Jonesboro man faces a terroristic threatening charge, among others, after police said he was going to “bash in” an EMS worker’s head while they were responding to a home for an unresponsive family member.

Judge Tommy Fowler found probable cause July 7 to charge 46-year-old Walter Steven Daniels with first-degree terroristic threatening (threatens physical injury or property damage), public intoxication, and criminal trespassing.

The affidavit said that on July 6, Jonesboro police responded to a request for assistance from Jonesboro fire and EMS about an unresponsive person on Fairview Drive.

When they arrived, the victim, who was a member of the EMS crew, said while returning to his truck for supplies, he was confronted by Daniels, a family member of the unresponsive person.

The victim said that Daniels threatened him, saying that he better get back in the house “or he was going to come over there and bash his head in,” according to the affidavit. That’s when the victim called the police for assistance.

When Daniels learned of this, he ran down the street. Other officers were notified, and a search began. Shortly after, dispatch got word that a resident at another home on Fairview Drive said Daniels was in her backyard. Officers were able to get there in time to arrest him, during which they noticed Daniels smelled of alcohol and was unsteady on his feet.

Daniels was given a $25,000 cash/surety bond. Fowler ordered Daniels that upon release, to have no contact with the victim and not to drink any intoxicating substances. According to online jail records, Daniels was released July 7 at 4:27 p.m.

Daniels’ next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 21.
