Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — April 27, 2025 — Police arrested a Jonesboro man after they said he was seen throwing a baggie containing meth during a traffic stop.

According to an affidavit, on April 23, Jonesboro Police Investigator Paul Williams with the Street Crimes Unit stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Access Road and Willow Road after noticing the driver failed to signal 100 feet before turning.

Williams made contact with the driver and immediately smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. He asked him and the passenger to step out of the vehicle for a probable cause search.

The affidavit stated that no illegal items were found on the driver, but the driver said there was a firearm beside their seat. A search of the vehicle was then performed.

Inside the vehicle, Williams found two rolled marijuana roaches that were burnt but still had what was suspected to be marijuana inside. He also found multiple marijuana buds and the loaded firearm the driver mentioned, which was found to be loaded with seven rounds, and one loaded into the chamber.

While working on a citation, Williams saw the passenger throwing a plastic baggie toward the interstate into the grass and immediately arrested him.

The affidavit stated the baggie was retrieved and found to have 6.6 grams of what was suspect to be meth.

On April 25, Craighead County Judge David Boling found probable cause to charge the passenger with possession of meth or cocaine greater than two grams but less than 10 grams and tampering with physical evidence.

The passenger is being held on a $15,000 cash/surety bond, awaiting his next scheduled court appearance for June 27.
