Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — April 2, 2025 — Police arrested a Jonesboro man after they said he repeatedly hit a child, causing injuries.
According to an affidavit, on April 1, a school resource officer was told that a child had multiple injuries to their arms and legs after being beaten with a stick.
The victim explained that they had gotten in trouble and their “foster parent” got a stick and started hitting them multiple times. Police noted there were old and new injuries on the victim’s body.
The victim later said that they were often hit by 29-year-old Byron Howard Baker, who was later arrested after being found on Antosh Circle.
On April 2, Craighead County Judge David Boling found probable cause to charge Baker with second-degree domestic battery/physical injury. He also ordered Baker to have no contact with the victim.
Baker is being held in the Craighead County Detention Center on a $50,000 cash/surety bond awaiting his next court appearance on May 22.
