Lake City, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Authorities investigated an online threat made to Riverside High School, and a person had been detained, the district said.
According to an early Friday morning Facebook post from Riverside Public Schools, the district notified the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office and the Lake City Police Department about the threat. These law enforcement agencies provided extra police presence on campus.
In a second Facebook post published at 11:35 a.m., the district said the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office traced the online threat to a 17-year-old who had never been a Riverside student. The post said no weapons were found on the juvenile and that the juvenile had been detained.
“At no time were Riverside students or staff in any actual danger,” the post said. “The Riverside School District takes all potential threats seriously and will continue to investigate any situation that involves possible harm to others.”
The district thanked the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the Lake City and Caraway Police Departments, for their action in the matter.
