Brookland, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — July 29, 2025 — A Brookland man was arrested Saturday after police said he threatened to kill his family, including himself, entered two neighbors’ homes, and claimed to have a handgun before being taken into custody.

According to an affidavit, on July 26, Brookland police officers were sent to the 100 block of Walnut Street for a domestic disturbance in progress.

When they arrived, officers met the victim, who told them that 32-year-old Matthew Dillion Beck came to their house and upon opening the door, walked in uninvited. He then said that he was going to kill his family and told the victim that he was going to sleep on their couch. The victim told Beck to leave, feeling terrified of him, the affidavit said.

Officers went to where the disturbance occurred and met with Beck’s wife and a child. They learned that Beck came home drunk and, after an argument, he said that he was going to kill himself and everyone in the house before going back to jail, the affidavit said.

The officers also learned that Beck had gone to another home on the same block and broken in through an unlocked back door. They met with the homeowner there, who told officers that Beck had knocked on all the windows of the house before breaking in. They said when they confronted Beck, he began threatening to kill himself and his entire family.

The victim said Beck told them he had a 9mm handgun on him and proceeded to drop his pants, showing the victim his genitals. The affidavit added that when Beck saw the officers’ blue lights, he ran back into the house, grabbed two knives out of the kitchen and swung them around, making threats before running into the laundry room.

Officers found Beck and arrested him. The affidavit noted that Beck was not armed with the knives or a handgun at the time of his arrest.

On July 28, Craighead County Judge David Boling found probable cause to charge Beck with first-degree terroristic threatening, criminal trespassing in or on a vehicle or structure, three counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, and third-degree assault on a family or household member.

Beck is being held on a $75,000 cash/surety bond in the Craighead County Detention Center. His next court date is scheduled for Aug. 21.
