Jonesboro-Paul David Wimpy, 89, passed away Saturday August 10, 2024 at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. Paul was born November 2, 1934 to the late Gus and Willie Wimpy. He graduated from Valley View High School in 1953. Farming was his profession where he raised rice and soybeans. Paul was a member of Valley View Missionary Baptist Church and served in the National Guard.
Paul is survived by his wife of 70 years, Opaline; daughter, Belinda (David) Renck Chapman; grandson, Joshua (Katie) Renck of O’Fallon, Illinois; great-grandson, Elliot Renck ; sisters, Kathleen Berry and Lucille Wimpy both of Jonesboro, AR.; several nieces, nephews,cousins and other family.
Paul was preceded in death by six brothers; D.C. Wimpy, James “Pete” Wimpy, Thad Wimpy, Robert “Bob,” Wimpy, Archie Wimpy, and Gaylon Wimpy; sisters, Marcelle Agee and Minnie Lou Reddick.
A celebration of his life will be Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Gregg-Langford-Bookout Chapel with his grandson Rev. Josh Renck and Rev. Randy Stimach officiating. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM until time of service. Interment will be at Keller Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Gregg-Langford-Bookout Funeral Home.
