Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Oct. 18, 2024 – A Paragould man was charged with sexually assaulting a 12-year-old child Friday.

According to the probable cause affidavit, a woman contacted Jonesboro police in January to report that her child had been sexually assaulted by her ex-boyfriend, 32-year-old Kylann Evins, a few years ago.

In an interview with Jonesboro police, the victim told officers Evins would allegedly come into her bedroom at night while her mother was working. She said if Evins thought she was asleep, he would begin to touch her inappropriately and that “she was scared and would pretend to be asleep while he touched her.” She said this continued for many nights and only stopped once the family moved and she began sharing a room with her brother.

The mother told officers of a time when Evins was drinking heavily. Her child was sitting on Evins’s lap when he reportedly began to unbutton her pants.

When officers interviewed Evins, he denied assaulting the child. However, when the officer brought up a report where Evins admitted to sexually assaulting his 6-year-old cousin when he was a teenager, Evins reportedly “hung his head and told [the officer] that he did in fact assault her.”

When asked about unbuttoning the victim’s pants, Evins said he recalled the incident and that he used to drink a lot and did that when drunk. He added that he couldn’t rule out if he’d touched the victim inappropriately, as he used to drink heavily.

Evins is charged with 2nd degree sexual assault. He was given a court date of Nov. 14 at 8:30 a.m.

Evins was given a temporary bond of $5,000 c/s. Court records show he bonded out within less than an hour. As a condition of the bond, he was issued a no-contact order.
