Paragould, AR – Jonesboro Right Now – A Paragould man is being held on a $250,000 cash/surety bond after police said after police said he was caught selling meth near a local school and church, leading to his arrest on multiple felony charges

Christopher Milan, 41, was arrested and booked into the Greene County Detention Center at 1:19 p.m. on July 17, the roster shows.

According to the probable cause affidavit, between June and July, investigator Jared Cook and the Paragould Street Crimes Unit conducted two controlled purchases of meth from Milan, nicknamed “Nephew”, at a West Kingshighway apartment.

In each instance, a confidential informant (CI) was searched and found to be free of illegal contraband and currency. The CI was then provided official buy money and surveillance equipment and instructed to travel to the target residence to conduct the purchase.

In the June transaction, investigators observed Milan holding a brown paper bag and witnessed him complete the transaction with the CI. In the July transaction, they observed a clear plastic bag containing a white crystal substance and the official buy money on the kitchen counter before Milan handed the meth to the CI in exchange for the buy money.

Following each transaction, the CI returned to the predetermined meeting location and was searched, with no additional contraband or unauthorized items found.

Investigators found one clear plastic corner-tied bag containing a white crystal substance after each purchase. In total, 57.4 grams of meth were found, with 28.6 being retrieved from the June purchase, while 28.8 grams were retrieved from the July purchase.

The affidavit noted that transactions would take place after learning through text messages that “Nephew” was ready to distribute the meth. The address was also said to be in proximity to certain facilities, being approximately 500 feet from Woodrow Wilson School and 130 feet from Redeemer Lutheran Church.

At 9:59 a.m. on July 17, police conducted surveillance at Milan’s apartment and learned from the CI that Milan was in possession of more meth. Milan was seen coming out and talking on his cell phone, and at one point, he would bend over as it appeared he had grabbed something. Afterward, Milan walked back around to his apartment and put a clear plastic bag in his pocket.

Agents approached the apartment to conduct a search warrant. Milan was standing in front of his apartment door looking over the balcony, and as agents went upstairs, Milan got the plastic bag from his pocket and threw it onto the apartment building. He was then detained.

The affidavit stated that one of the agents had found voids in two columns where Milan was hiding the suspected meth. The agent had also found more meth, a clear plastic corner bag with precut bags ready to be used for distribution, and suspected cocaine in another column with a similar void. The Paragould Fire Department was notified to bring a ladder to the location to get the meth from the apartment roof. The suspected meth weighed 2.5 ounces, while the cocaine weighed half a gram.

A search of the apartment was conducted, with the only item of interest found being $1,600 in cash, which was said to be proceeds from the distribution of the drugs.

Once at the police department, agents conducted a Mirandaized interview with Milan. He admitted that he had been selling drugs for approximately four months and claimed everything found on him was his, claiming, “Y’all caught me red-handed.”

In addition to the $250,000 bond, the judge ordered Milan to not possess any weapons and wear an ankle monitor upon release. He faces the following charges:

  • Two counts of delivery of meth/cocaine greater than 10 grams but less than 200 grams (Class Y felony)
  • One count of possession of meth with the purpose to deliver (Class A felony)
  • Two counts of unlawful use of a communication device (Class C felony)
  • One count of tampering with physical evidence (Class D felony)
  • One count of possession of drug paraphernalia (Class D felony)
  • Two counts of proximity to certain facilities, enhanced penalties
