Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Dec. 5, 2024 – A Paragould man has been charged with forgery after he tried to cash a bad check at a Brookland bank.
Recently, an employee of the First Community Bank in Brookland told police that a man had come into the bank wanting to cash a check. The employee was aware that this particular man allegedly tried to cash fake checks on occasion and she told him she’d need to verify the check before she cashed it for him.
At that point, the man took back his ID, said he needed to pick up his kids at school and left, walking to the Jordan’s fuel station nearby.
Bank officials contacted the business where the check was drawn. The business advised the bank that the check was similar to their checks, but it was forged.
Bank security footage was used to get a picture of the man and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was taken into custody Dec. 2 and charged with forgery. His bond was set at $35,000 and he has a court date of Jan. 24.
