Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – June 24, 2024 – Jonesboro police responded to a call about a possible overdose on Sunday. When they arrived at the home, they found a 15-year-old girl in the bathroom.
Her mother told officers that the girl had been making suicidal statements and the mother suspected she had taken an unknown number of pills.
After a few minutes, officers were able to persuade the teen to let them take her to a hospital, but as they were leaving the house, she took off running. They caught up to her, but she was uncooperative.
She went limp and refused to walk, forcing them to carry her to a patrol car. It took three officers to get her into the unit, as she began punching and kicking the officers, spitting at them and screaming that she wanted to die. She had to be handcuffed.
While she was in the vehicle, she slipped a handcuff and began punching the windows and the partition between the cab and the backseat. She continued to be combative at St. Bernards.
Medical staff had to hold her down as she kept trying to get out of the handcuffs. She tried to tear out her IV’s and she punched a 27-weeks pregnant nurse in the stomach.
The report summary states “Suspect fled from law enforcement, spat on law enforcement, resisted arrest, elbowed and punched a nurse.”
A mental health hold has been placed on her by the hospital.
