Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Feb. 11, 2025 – NEA Baptist is the first in the state of Arkansas to successfully implant a Cardiac Contractility Modulation (CCM) device.
The innovative procedure, led by Dr. Matthew Haustein, marks a significant milestone in NEA Baptist’s commitment to providing state-of-the-art treatments for heart failure patients.
The Optimizer system is the only device approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States to deliver CCM therapy. CCM therapy delivers non-excitatory electrical pulses from the implantable Optimizer device in a manner designed to improve heart contraction.
CCM therapy sends unique electrical pulses to the heart cells during their absolute refractory period. Impulse Dynamics has completed numerous clinical studies, including several randomized controlled trials, and CCM therapy has been published in more than 120 peer-reviewed journal articles.
“I’m very excited to have this therapy option for heart failure patients. With this technology, we will have the ability to improve quality of life for those dealing with the debilitating effects of heart failure. It’s an honor to offer this to patients at NEA Baptist,” said Dr. Matthew Haustein.
NEA Baptist Health System comprises NEA Baptist Clinic, NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital, and NEA Baptist Fowler Family Center for Cancer Care. The 228-bed hospital offers cancer care, heart care through the Heart Center, and labor and delivery services through the hospital’s Women’s Center, as well as a host of inpatient and outpatient services, emergency care, and surgical services, including weight loss surgery, neurology, respiratory care, and pulmonary rehabilitation.
