Nathan D. Thompson Jr., 79, of Jonesboro, AR, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Craighead Nursing Center in Jonesboro. He was born on August 2, 1945, in Keiser, AR, to Jack and Bertha (Watson) Thompson. Nathan earned a bachelor’s degree and having an adventurous spirit, he spent his working life in different vocations, including as a teacher, a beloved basketball coach, sales, and as a postal worker. He enjoyed many things, including hunting and fishing, projects of all kinds, mechanical work, woodworking, and spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Vincent Ryan Thompson; a great grandson, James Ryan Long; and brothers James Hammond and Charles Thompson.

Left to cherish the memory of Nathan are his devoted wife of 56 years, Beverly; twin daughters Valerie Thompson Bailey and Jennifer Thompson Long; grandchildren TJ, Austin, Max, and Annabeth; great grandchildren Ensley, Azalea, and Emma; brothers Roy and George Thompson; sisters Shirley Keeling and Martha Gosa; and many nieces, nephews, friends, family, and loved ones.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at 2pm at Roller Farmers Union Funeral Home (1900 W. Washington Ave. Jonesboro, AR 72401) with Chuck Lewis and Larry Bailey officiating.

A visitation will precede the service beginning at 1pm.
