Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Aug 28, 2024 – Jonesboro investigators continue to sort through two separate shootings that were reported in Jonesboro this weekend, with several arrests now made in connection to both incidents.

Shooting on Virginia Drive

Jonesboro Police investigated a shooting on Virginia Drive in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 25. The shooting followed a party where a verbal altercation had taken place. Suspects allegedly later started shooting from across the street, striking several victims, damaging a home and two vehicles parked in the driveway.

Victims listed in the report include a 10-year-old male, 9-year-old male, 55-year-old Lola Clark, and 33-year-old Teresa Jackson. Police said Clark suffered a gunshot wound to her left leg and right calf.

The suspects were identified in the report and probable cause paperwork as 25-year-old Drekhari Nesby, 32-year-old Jermaine Jackson, 24-year-old Shunterricka Sanders, and 25-year-old Kaelon Chandler. Nesby and another suspect fled in a purple Charger, and their involvement was confirmed through witness statements and evidence. Jackson and Sanders were arrested and released less than an hour later.

Nesby went before Circuit Judge Barbara Halsey Wednesday and was given a $250,000 cash/surety bond and ordered to wear an ankle monitor as a condition of his release.

Chandler also went before Judge Halsey Wednesday and was given a $300,000 cash/surety bond and ordered to wear an ankle monitor as a condition of his release.

Chandler and Nesby’s probable cause affidavits state:

On August 25, 2024, Jonesboro Police responded to 1607 Virginia in regard to a shooting. Upon their arrival, they located a female had been shot at 1606 Virginia and that residence and vehicles in the driveway had been struck by gunfire. At 1607 Virigina there were 223 casings located in the driveway and 7. 62 casings located in front of the residence and on the sidewalk. During this investigation, it was learned that the victim had been at a birthday party earlier in the evening of 8-24-24 and was involved in a verbal altercation. The victim left the party and came back to her residence of 1606 Virginia. The other parties involved came back to 1607 later that evening and another confrontation ensued. During this time there was a physical altercation between the victim and another female. As this altercation was being broke up and dispersed, gunfire erupted. During the investigation and interviews, Kaelon Chandler was identified as the suspect, through name and photo lineup, that was in front of the house with a rifle type weapon shooting. Once the shooting stopped, Chandler left the residence. There was another suspect that was arrested. After Chandler was identified, a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.

On August 25, 2024, Jonesboro Police responded to 1607 Virginia in regard to a shooting and a person had been shot. Upon their arrival, the located a female victim that had been shot 2 times. During the investigation, it was learned that the female victim has been at birthday party earlier in the evening of August 24, 2024, and had a verbal altercation with someone at that time. Once she was taken home, Nesby and another male, along with other females arrived home at the residence right across the street from the victim. The victim walked out of her house to escort her sister to the car, when a female from the other residence, 1607 Virginia, came out into the street and began to fight with the victim. The fight was broken up and Nesby and another male began shooting towards the victim and her house. That was when the victim was struck 2 times. The victims house and 2 vehicles in the driveway were also struck with gunfire at 1606 Virginia. Once the shooting stopped, Nesby and the other male got into a purple Charger and fled the scene. There were 2 types of casing located where the suspects were shooting from at 1607 Virginia.

Shooting on Fairview

Shortly after 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 25, Jonesboro Police responded to a shooting report at 3210 Fairview. When police arrived, they reported finding shell casings scattered in front of the residence.

The victim, who had been shot in the shoulder blade, was found on Mary Jane.

According to the police report, the victim had gone to the Fairview address to resolve an ongoing dispute with 17-year-old Lawrence Jennings, Jr.

During the confrontation, Jennings allegedly drew a firearm and began shooting at a vehicle in which the victim was a passenger. The vehicle sustained significant damage, including bullet holes in the trunk and rear window, and the victim was struck during the incident.

Following an investigation, a bench warrant was issued for Jennings. Although initially evading capture, Jennings was later located hiding in the attic of a residence on W. Forrest. He was taken into custody without incident and was also found to be in possession of a backpack containing marijuana packaged for sale. Jennings declined to speak with investigators about the shooting.

Jennings, a juvenile, went before a judge this week and was given a $150,000 bond and ordered to wear an ankle monitor upon release. He is being charged as an adult.

The probable cause affidavit states:

On August 25, 2024, Jonesboro Police responded to Mary Jane in regard to a shooting and a male subject being shot. While enroute, this detective was advised that the crime scene had been located at 3210 Fairview. Once there, I located (11) .22 caliber shell casings in front of the residence. It was determined that the victim has been shot there and ended up on Mary Jane. The victim had come to the residence to locate Jennings to try to diffuse and ongoing dispute that had been occurring. During this time, there was a verbal altercation between the victim and Jennings. Jennings produced a firearm and as the victim and witness were trying to leave the area in a vehicle, Lawrence began shooting that the moving vehicle in which the victim was the passenger in. There were 2 bullet holes located in the trunk, the back window had been shot out and there were 2 holes that were located in the rear headrest that traveled to the front. During this gunfire, the victim was struck in the left shoulder blade area which was consistent with the gun fire. After interviews, a bench warrant was issued for Lawrence Jennings, Jr. Detectives and patrol went to his residence and he was not located at this time. After speaking with others, more investigations were completed and we traveled back to the residence at 404 W. Forrest where Jennings was located hiding in the attic of the residence. Once located, Jennings was taken into custody without incident. He was also in possession of a backpack that contained marijuana that appeared to be in packaging for selling. During the interview of Jennings, he refused to talk to this detective in regard to this case.
