Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Feb. 19, 2025 – The second of three Community Discussions on the monuments for the Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Trail was canceled due to the weather.
These meetings will now be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 24, and Thursday, Feb. 27, at New St John Missionary Baptist Church, located at 308 N. Main St. in Jonesboro.
The discussions aim to gather community input on the MLK Freedom Trail project, an initiative with Jonesboro Parks and Recreation.
With the help of the A-State Department of Art + Design, artists and historians from Arkansas State University will create four sculptures along the upcoming trail to commemorate Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as well as people and events in local civil rights movements.
