Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – May 31, 2025 – Jonesboro radio station Mix 106.3 (KJBX-FM/HD) this week installed a a new transmitter that strengthens its High Definition (HD) signal and bolsters its back-up and redundancy capabilities.

Engineers installed a new GatesAir HD Flexiva transmitter. The new signal went live late Wednesday afternoon. While the overall power output of the station remains the same, the HD signal improves. “In engineering terms, we have been broadcasting a -20db high-definition signal since 2011,” said Trey Stafford, Jonesboro Media Group President/General Manager. “The new transmitter increases that HD signal to -14db. In simple terms it’s a fourfold increase in digital power.”

“Our company continues to invest in new equipment to give us strength and redundancy,” Stafford said. “This new transmitter is an $85,000 investment. It is energy efficient, all solid state (no tubes), and extremely reliable.” Stafford said the previous transmitter becomes the station’s back-up transmitter. Combined with the station’s onsite generator and redundant antenna and coaxial cable the station’s ability to stay on the air has been strengthened as well. “We have new GatesAir transmitters on all three of our high-power stations now.”

“The opportunity to increase our digital footprint with Mix 106.3 is exciting,” Stafford said. “All six of our radio stations broadcast High Definition (HD) signals. And now they are all on the strong -14db platform. The commitment our company has had to making this technology available in a market like Jonesboro, Arkansas is something I love to brag about. It gives our listeners a big market radio experience on all of our stations.”

Mix 106.3 is a “hot adult contemporary” format radio station playing music from artists such as Bruno Mars, Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, Chappell Roan, Teddy Swims and others.
