Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – April 28, 2024 – The Craighead County Master Gardeners’ Annual Plant Sale kicked off with enthusiasm despite the rain, as President Jackie Leech cut the ribbon at 7 am, marking the beginning of the event. With over 100 eager attendees waiting in line, the event promised to be a success, with community members braving the weather to support the cause.

The sale featured various sections, each dedicated to different types of plants, including annual suns, annual shades, perennials, houseplants, etc. Master Gardeners of Craighead County were stationed in each section to assist visitors, offering guidance on plant growth, sizes, and providing educational insights for newcomers to the world of gardening.

All proceeds from the event went to scholarships for Craighead County high school seniors intending to pursue plant sciences at an Arkansas school. They have funded two $1,000 scholarships in just the last year, with the hope of expanding this support in the future. Interested students meeting the criteria can apply through their high school counselors.

The event was made possible by the generous donations of plants from the 150 members of the Master Gardeners group who have nurtured and grown the plants themselves over the last year. Serving as the sole fundraiser for the cause, the annual plant sale highlights the dedication of the Master Gardeners to supporting the education and development of future plant scientists in the community.
