Marion “Mickey” Payne, 91, Passed peacefully from this life December 23, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born June 22, 1933, in Marmaduke, Arkansas,
Mickey was preceded in death by his parents, Marion Thomas Payne and Carmon Holland Payne; sisters, Carolyn Joan Payne Harris, Betty Sue Payne Burroughs, and Gwen Payne Hosman, and a brother, James Coleman Payne.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ava Sue Payne; a son, James Payne; a sister, June Ann Payne Wright (Larry) and 3 nieces and 4 nephews.
Mickey served his country in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean war. After he was discharged from the Army, he earned his master’s degree in education and taught math in many school districts in Arkansas and Missouri.
Mickey enjoyed gardening and bird watching and attended New Home Missionary Baptist Church.
A Visitation will be held December 26, 2024, at 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM with a funeral service to follow.
