Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Aug 20, 2024 – Recent Jonesboro police reports are full of scammers and others behaving badly with money.
A man tried to pass a fake $50 bill at the Walmart on Creek Drive, and a woman tried to buy things at the Walgreens on Caraway with a counterfeit $100 bill.
A 36-year-old Jonesboro woman noticed some unauthorized purchases on her debit card, even though she still had it in her possession. Someone had used her number to buy $26.80 worth of food at Wing Stop, and then $31.24 of food from Marco’s Pizza.
Also, a 61-year-old Jonesboro woman got a call from a man that said he worked for the Law Group White and Cash LLC. He had good news! She had won $18.2 million dollars in an international lottery! To get her the money, all he needed was her bank account information.
The next day, she saw where $768 was taken out of her account and sent via app to a different company. This same man called her back to say that he had deposited a check for $1000 into her account. But right after that, her bank called to say that the check was fraudulent.
