Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Sept. 16, 2024 – The man involved in the Philip Evans Parkway shooting this weekend was charged with 1st degree domestic battery on Monday.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Jonesboro police were called about a shooting around 3 a.m. on Sunday, where they found blood and a shell casing on scene.
A short time later, officers received a call from NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital regarding a disturbance in the parking lot. After separating the involved parties, officers were made aware of a shooting victim and 27-year-old Jessie McDuffey, of Memphis, who had a head wound. Both were in the hospital.
Witnesses at the hospital told officers they were attending a party at Philip Evans Parkway when a fight broke out. During the fight, McDuffey allegedly shot the victim in the leg.
McDuffey was then reportedly slammed on the ground by an unknown individual, causing his head injuries. After being released from the hospital, McDuffey was transported to the Craighead County Detention Center.
McDuffey was given a court date of Oct. 28 at 8:30 a.m. and a bond of $50,000 c/s. Terms of the bond are a no-contact order with the victim and an ankle monitor.
