Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Feb. 28, 2025 – A man involved in a fatal crash Thursday night has been arrested.
The three-vehicle accident, which occurred Feb. 27 around 10:05 p.m. in the 2100 block of E. Matthews Avenue, left one man dead.
Investigation showed a 2012 Dodge Ram, driven by 26-year-old Arturo Chacon, of Jonesboro, was traveling west in eastbound traffic lanes, according to a Jonesboro Police Department news release.
A 2023 Nissan Altima, driven by Lakeshia Haskins of Jonesboro, was traveling eastbound in the inside eastbound traffic lane. The vehicle driven by Chacon collided with the vehicle being driven by Haskins.
Chacon’s vehicle continued across the eastbound traffic lanes and impacted a third vehicle, a 2004 Toyota Camry, driven by Larry Taylor of Jonesboro, the news release said.
According to the news release, Taylor was pronounced deceased on scene by the Craighead County Coroner Office. All other parties in this incident were treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Chacon is currently being held at the Craighead County Detention Center. According to Chacon’s booking sheet, Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE) has placed a no-bond hold on him, meaning he can’t bond out. At the time of publication, Chacon’s mugshot has not been taken.
He’s been charged with negligent homicide, driving while intoxicated, battery 2nd degree, reckless driving, possession of open container and various traffic offenses.
