Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — July 11, 2025 — Police arrested an Earle man after they said he stalked his ex-girlfriend, leading to a foot chase that ended with the discovery of a handgun and hammer in his possession.
Judge Barbara Halsey found probable cause July 11 to charge 23-year-old Ja’terrius Damon Coleman with first-degree stalking, fleeing, criminal trespassing, carrying a weapon, and resisting arrest.
According to the affidavit, on July 10, Jonesboro police responded to a home in Jonesboro after the victim reported her ex-boyfriend, Coleman, was at her home and could be seen on her security cameras.
The victim told officers that Coleman had been repeatedly appearing at her home recently. The affidavit noted he was also a suspect in a previous tire-slashing incident and was criminally banned from the property. Security footage briefly showed Coleman before the camera appeared to be intentionally moved.
The affidavit said that another call came in shortly after, with the caller reporting a disturbance with yelling. Officers found the victim, who said Coleman had just run off. He was eventually found by another officer but immediately ran.
A brief foot chase, involving an attempted taser deployment and verbal commands, ended with Coleman tripping in a wooded area and being apprehended. A taser was deployed to arrest him after not complying with requests.
Officers searched Coleman’s backpack, discovering a claw hammer and a handgun. He later admitted to changing the angle of the victim’s security camera, the affidavit said.
The victim went on to say that Coleman called her 17 times the previous day and sent a text message despite claiming not to be at her house. According to the affidavit, she said he was “abusive,” adding that she felt paranoid, scared, and unsafe around him.
Coleman is being held in the Craighead County Detention Center on a $100,000 cash/surety bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 21.
