Jonesboro, AR – Jonesboro Right Now – The Foundation of Arts (FOA) has a new executive director, the nonprofit organization announced Monday morning.

According to a news release from the FOA, Lynette Hirsch, who was most recently the community engagement and marketing coordinator for the City of Jonesboro, will be the next director. Hirsch’s last day with the city will be July 17, she told JRN.

Current executive director Stephanie Epps will step down at the end of the month to spend more time with family and welcome a new baby. Hirsch’s first day with the FOA will be on July 20, during which she will train with Epps.

“The city’s a close partner with the FOA, and I feel like I have a good grasp on many of the things that they offer. However, I think it’s important to go in with a learning mindset and to hear from those that are already doing the work on the ground,” Hirsch told JRN.

In the future, Hirsch said she wants the FOA to partner with more community and regional organizations.

The FOA is a nonprofit theatre arts organization that provides arts education, entertainment, and outreach programs. It makes its home in the Forum Theater, located at 115 E. Monroe Ave.

“Arts is essential for any thriving community,” Hirsch said. “Art allows us to learn more about who we are and about each other. It gives us experiences that often bond or bring together a sense of community. It’s another avenue for us to see the value of diversity as an opportunity for growth rather than an obstacle to overcome.”
