Leslie Raymond McElhaney Jr., 74, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 15, 2024 at his home.

He was born July 20, 1949 in West Plains, Missouri to the late Leslie McElhaney Sr. and Pauline Wooldridge McElhaney. Les proudly served in the United States Army and then in the Missouri and Arkansas National Guard. He served two tours in Vietnam and retired as a Staff Sergeant with thirty-one years.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Timothy McElhaney and three brothers, Mike, Carlos and Jesse McElhaney.

Les was survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Phyllis Austin McElhaney; three sons, Shane Harville of Manila, David McElhaney of Jonesboro and Shawn McElhaney of Greenbriar; two sisters, Donna Rahn of Popular Bluff, Missouri and Sherry Jones of Georgia; a brother, Jerry McElhaney of Popular Bluff; ten grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other family.

A celebration of his life will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2024 at Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Monette with Rev. Glen Hoselton officiating. Interment will follow at Leachville Cemetery with full military honors.

The family will receive friends from noon until time of service Friday at the funeral home.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Tony Austin, Kevin Austin, Ronnie Austin, Lance Davis, Daniel Davis and Donnie Burton.
