Leotis Slatton, 89, of Paragould, passed from this life on August 12, 2024 at Phil and Flo Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Leotis was born on March 6, 1935 to James “Jim” and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Layton Slatton. He retired from Emerson Electric where he worked for 25 years. Leotis served his country with honors in the United States Army. He loved being outside and watching the deer and hummingbirds. Leotis also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and working in his yard. He took pride in making it look nice for all to see.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, J.D. and his wife Eula Slatton, Walter Slatton, Roy Slatton, Ray and his wife Dorothy Slatton, Alton Slatton, Grace and her husband Bill Brown; and brother-in-law, Marion Walker.
Leotis is survived by his beloved wife, Ava Jean Slatton; daughter, Janet and her husband Charles Pratt; sister, Laura Ann Walker; sister-in-law, Wanda Slatton; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home with Dr. Rhyne Putman officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Mitchell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Leotis’ honor to Mt. Zion Cemetery, P.O. Box 98 Walcott, Arkansas 72474.
