Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – September 28, 2025 – The Downtown Jonesboro Barbecue & Music Festival has grown into one of Northeast Arkansas’ signature events, drawing thousands each fall to celebrate food, music, and community.

The Arkansas State Championship Barbecue Contest, sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society, has been a centerpiece of the festival for years, attracting some of the best pitmasters from across the region. Teams compete in multiple categories, from ribs and pulled pork to brisket and chicken, all aiming for top honors and a chance to advance to national competitions. A total of $13,500 in prize money was given to winners in the various categories on Saturday. 26 competition teams participated in this year’s contest.

What started as a local gathering highlighting Jonesboro’s downtown revival has become a two-day showcase of live music, family fun, and culinary excellence. The contest not only crowns champions but also reinforces the city’s reputation as a hub for great barbecue.
