Karen Sue Milam, 63, left this world on April 29, 2024. She was born on October 7, 1960, to Joe and Mary Smith.
Karen was the owner of Dee’s Propane. She loved all kinds of animals and enjoyed spending time at the beach. As an avid reader, Karen found adventure within the pages of her favorite books. Her passion for reading was only matched by the delight she found in giving. Karen was known for her thoughtful and often unexpected gifts, which she bestowed with a kindness that touched the lives of many.
Karen’s love for the silver screen was evident to all who knew her. She cherished the classics, spending countless hours enjoying “I Love Lucy,” “The Golden Girls,” and any movie featuring the legendary Elvis Presley.
Family was the cornerstone of Karen’s life. She poured her love into every family gathering, every shared meal, and every moment spent as “Meme” with her cherished grandchildren. Her love was a guiding light, a beacon of comfort and joy that will continue to shine in the hearts of her loved ones. Karen was a child of God and a devote believer.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Pamela Myatt; and brothers, Jimmy Smith and Kenneth Smith.
Survivors include her husband, Dee Milam; daughters, Melissa Sutherland (Todd), Autumn Guillot (Daniel); stepchildren, Justin Milam (Maria), Cassie Moore (Eric); brothers, Joe Max Smith, Enis Brown; sister, Crystal Coats; grandchildren, Conner Sutherland (Cheyenne), Tori Sutherland, Danica Guillot, Tanner Guillot, Haley Welch, Emma Milam, Mia Milam, and Ella Moore; and her beloved pets, Bentley and Madea.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 2, from 11:00 a.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home with Gary Cremeens officiating. Burial will follow at Finch Cemetery.
Ben Phillips, Trenton McGowan, Coty Britt, Todd Sutherland, Conner Sutherland, and Joe Max Smith will serve as pallbearers. Tanner Guillot and Zeke Britt will serve as honorary pallbearers.
