Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — Aug. 1, 2025 — A man is being held on a $750,000 cash/surety bond after police said he threatened to rape a victim and admitted to being high on meth.

An affidavit said that on July 30, Jonesboro police officers responded to a hotel on Kazi Street for a report of a prowler. The officers met the victim, who told them that 34-year-old Jesse Michael McCauley, of Rocklin, CA, was fully nude and knocking on other residents’ doors.

According to police, the victim said when they made contact with McCauley in the stairwell, he forced them against the wall and said he was going to rape them. At the same time, McCauley began touching his genitals, the affidavit said. The victim pushed McCauley back and ran away.

The affidavit said while officers were talking to the victim, McCauley was contacted, still fully nude, and told officers that he was high on meth. He was arrested and taken to the Craighead County Detention Center.

On Aug. 1, Circuit Judge Barbara Halsey found probable cause to charge McCauley with second-degree sexual assault, indecent exposure, public intoxication, and third-degree assault.

In addition to the $750,000 bond, McCauley was ordered to have no contact with the victim. Halsey noted during the hearing that McCauley has extensive state charges and “poses a risk to the public.”

McCaulley’s next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 30.
