JPD Officer Hit Head-On By Suspected Drunk Driver

Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – August 25, 2024 – A Jonesboro Police officer responding to the Friday night shooting in Poinsett County was hit head-on by a suspected drunk driver.

According to a report on NEAReport.com, Sgt. Brian Arnold was responding in his unmarked patrol car to assist Poinsett County when a vehicle driven by Juan Domingo Lainez, 21, Jonesboro, struck Arnold’s vehicle head-on.

The accident happened on Highway 49 North in front of the Busch Agri facility. The report did not indicate, but it is assumed Arnold was traveling South and Lainez was traveling North. There was no indication in which lane the accident occurred.

JPD Public Information Specialist Sally Smith told NEAReport that Arnold was “ok.”

Lainez was arrested and charged with driving-while-intoxicated (DWI).
