Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – The Jonesboro Police Department and City of Jonesboro are reminding drivers of a new traffic pattern in effect on school days.
Posts on JPD and city Facebook pages said that parts of Wilkins Avenue will be designated as a one-way street during morning and afternoon hours on school days. This new pattern was established by modifying Ordinance 24:037, which the city council approved in early 2025.
Wilkins Avenue will only run eastbound from the hours of 7:15 a.m. to 8:15 a.m., and only eastbound again at Macarthur Park to Hillcrest Drive from 2:45 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.
“This means that if you travel westbound on Wilkins during these hours, you will need to find an alternative route before you reach Hillcrest to avoid any citations,” the post said. “We will be enforcing these new traffic patterns heavily for the remainder of the school year to ensure our children’s safety during drop-off and pick-up.”
